Marketing Intern — Candidate Assessment

How you think on your feet
is the interview.

Series HQ is a founder residency in Chelsea, NYC — a 12,000 sq ft space where early-stage founders work, eat, and build together. As a Marketing Intern you'll be on the ground making it run: present every morning, capturing content, planning events, keeping the community alive, and handling real operational moments with no script.

The Role in Plain Terms
Marketing Intern, Series

This isn't a "make decks and shadow people" internship. You'll be in the building every day doing real work — managing the morning, filming content, running events, and being the person founders actually interact with.

Morning — On-site by 9am. Greet every founder. Make sure food is right, space is set, no one is having a bad day silently.
Content & Video — Phone out, always. Capture HQ moments, founder stories, and events. Film and edit short-form video for social.
Events — Help plan and run dinner series, speaker nights, and pitch events. Logistics, invites, run-of-show, on-the-ground execution.
Community — Know who's in the space, what they're building, and make them feel like they belong. Check in guests, keep energy up.
Ops — Handle whatever comes up with no playbook. Budget constraints, vendor calls, last-minute pivots — this is a live operation.
How this assessment works
🎙️
Voice only, no typing. The mic turns on automatically when each question starts. There is no pause button and no way to stop recording mid-answer.
⏱️
Each question has a timer. When it hits zero, your answer locks and you move on automatically. You cannot go back.
Submit when you're done. Finished before the timer? Hit Submit and it advances immediately. Don't wait.
🔴
Pauses and filler are logged. Silences over 3 seconds get flagged in your transcript. Filler words are obvious in a voice recording. We will hear both.
🚫
Don't try to Claude this. There is no version of typing a prompt into AI and reading it back that won't be completely obvious. The pauses alone give it away. We're listening for how you actually think — not how well you can recite.
Before you start
Use Chrome. This will not work in Safari or Firefox.
Find a quiet room. Background noise hurts transcription quality.
The timers are short on purpose. We want your instinct, not a polished answer.
Talk like you're already in the role. These are real situations — treat them that way.
Specific beats general. "I'd figure it out" is not an answer. What would you actually do?

We know this format doesn't capture your voice the way a real conversation would.

That was intentional. Hopefully that didn't fuck up your flow! We like to see how people think during unique situations.

We'll be in touch. Thanks for applying _
